The number of complaints about payment protection insurance (PPI) being taken to the Financial Ombudsman Serive (FOS) has seen a sharp drop.
The FOS states that it received 66% fewer complaints in the third quarter than it had received in the second. This drop was to be expected as the backlog of PPI complaints is cleared.
However, what we believe is of interest to our readers is the fact that these are all cases that had previously been turned down banks and other PPI sellers.
"The percentage of PPI complaints we upheld in favour of the consumer increased to 92%," an FOS spokesman said.
